Specialized Survey for Luxury Crafts & Pre Purchase Inspections for Super Yacht

We, constellation Marine services as independent ship and marine surveyors, often get nominations from potential buyers to carry out General superficial condition survey of FRP, GRP yachts & tugs. Recently we got a nomination from one of our clients/potential buyer to carry out General superficial condition survey of 30 FT FRP yacht. Our Naval Architect/Marine Surveyor upon receipt of instruction, arranged to attend recently an inspection on board the subject yacht in Dubai, UAE.
LIMITATION DURING SURVEY:
The boat was observed placed on a cradle at the location of inspection. There was no crew on board. No machinery nor equipment were operated or tested during the course of the inspection.
HULL:
Hull of the boat appeared constructed of the FRP Material and adequately coated. At the time of survey, the keel line in forward part of the boat was seen in broken coating to the length of approximately 15cms. Hull coating breakdown was seen in an area of approximately 3 sq.cm. Other area of the hull was seen with minimal barnacles. Slight scratch mark was observed in the starboard side aft quarter near swim platform. Rubber fendering in the aft-starboard quarter was seen damaged. Rubber packing between the window joints was seen protruding out. Aft side of the boat was found with small swim platform and foldable access ladder. Ladder was seen of stainless steel with superficial rust staining.
MAIN DECK AND DECK FITTINGS:
Access to the boat was undertaken from the aft swim
platform ladder. Aft deck was observed with antiskid
coating. Seating arrangement was seen with convertible
arrangement table. Removable canopy was fitted in the
aft deck seating area. Transom shower was fitted near
the swim platform. Music speaker and light arrangements
found in the aft deck.
Two filling stations were observed on the aft port and
starboard side. Closing lid of the filling station was
seen detached from its connection, however closing of
the inlet opening was unaffected. The manoeuvring station
was located at mid ship. Access to the manoeuvring station
from aft deck was through the 3-panel sliding glass
door. Middle panel glass was seen with colour staining.
Starboard side of manoeuvring station on main deck was
a designated space for cooking, with a gas cylinder
provided with pipe connection leading to the cooking
stove.
Forward of the main deck was the sun lounge platform
seen with direct hatch access to the Main Bedroom. Stainless
steel handrail was seen all around in intact condition
with no visible staining. Single centre anchor arrangement
was seen in the forward of the board with anchor chain
compartment in clean condition. Required mooring cleats
were seen fitted on the hull in intact condition.
MANOEUVRING STATION & NAVIGATION EQUIPMENT:
Manoeuvring station was fitted in the starboard side of mid ship in an enclosed cabin (upper deck). Navigation equipment was consisting of Ray marine electronic Navigation systems with GPS, mercury display gauges, electronic engine controls and Throttle controller lever. No equipment was tested for its operational condition.
UPPER DECK AND LOWER DECK ACCOMODTION SPACE:
Upper accommodation space was provided at mid ship
of the boat. It was seen fitted with manoeuvring station
in the starboard. Twin cooking stove and wash basin
were fitted behind the manoeuvring station that can
be converted to working table. Small bar and oven were
fitted below the cooking stove. Adjacent to this was
a music station.
Upper deck port side area was fitted with seating arrangement
and foldable table. Upholstery was seen dusty with and
stains. All the sides of the upper deck were enclosed
with glassed window giving the good visibility all around.
The screw connection of window glass was seen with cracks
in port and starboard sides. One sliding glass door
was seen fitted in the starboard side for access.
Day light glassed window was found with cracks at many
places and a hatch opening leading to forward sun deck.
MACHINERY AND MACHINERY SPACES
Boat was fitted with two outboard engines from maker Mercury Verado 200 HP.
