An external hull and bulkhead survey is a survey of only the main hull and the internal bulkheads. Such a survey is normally cheaper than a pre-purchase condition survey but clearly does not cover as much as a pre-purchase survey.
For this type of survey, the nominated Constellation Marine surveyor will concentrate on the physical condition of the hull, internal stiffening and the attachments of the bulkhead to the hull.
If a client opts for this type of survey (because it is cheaper) it is very important that he understands the limitations of what he will receive. If subsequently the client finds the engine bed is loose he may consider it to be part of the hull, this may not be part of the job scope and needs to be explained to the client as to what he has purchased.
